| One of the aims of the festival has always been to give young people a chance to show their works on a professional stage. To encourage them even more, Ida Urbel scholarship was established in year 2004. The scholarship of 20 000 kroons is given to one or two choreographers or dancers, who are not older than 27 years and who excel in creativity and professionality at the festival.
The scholarship is given by an international committee. The decision is impersonal and not a single style of dance is preferred. Professional dance companies, theatres and universities in Estonia can apply for the scholarship and put forward nominees, provided that they register to the festival and are given a permission to perform.
The scholarship is awarded by Tartu Kultuurkapital.
In 2004 the scholarship was divided between Jarmo Karing and Maarja Pärn. Jarmo Karing is a choreograph and member of the United Dancers of Zuga. His work "Open" was presented by Triinu Arund. Maarja Pärn, a long-time member of Hetero Studio, chorographed and danced "Simetra" by herself.
We invite all the young and talented dancers and choreographers to prepare for the next festival in 2006. The maximum length of the works is 10 minutes. All the participants should send their CV and an introduction of their work (and a video if possible) by 31 September, 2006. See you in Tartu!
